Essex Concert Band Summer Season

This year the Essex
Concert Band (Geoffrey Harniess) has worked once more with the Tendring Concert
Band, part of the Tendring Area Music School held at Tendring Technology
Concert, as well as visiting many of their regular venues: Rowhedge, Kelvedon, Harwich and
Tiptree. They also add new venues in Wickham Bishops and also St Botolph's Church in Colchester to
their concert series, which they enjoy very much and to which they hope to
return in the future.
Many of their events are held in support of worthy causes but they were particularly pleased in December to be able to support the work of the Colne Endeavour Music
Club, with whom some members of the band are very closely linked. The club aims
to use music to develop the personal and social skills of members regardless of
disability of special needs.
Their season closed on July 22nd when they appeared on the bandstand in Colchester with guest conductor Matt Andrews.
Despite the forecast the weather was kind to them and the event was very well supported.

Membership
|
|
The band has welcomed several new members this year whose skills have added to the quality of the playing as well as to the atmosphere within the band. With
their membership at a new high they have now reached a situation where some sections
are at capacity. However, they always find room where we can and welcome enquiries from potential
members.

Beyond Music
|
|
After a slow start to the season the past three months have seen the band
focus on performing band, so much so that they have been too busy to organise
their usual end of year social. They hope to put this right in the Autumn and
they look forward to coming together in an 'off-duty' capacity.
