Wakefield
Orchestral Wind (Nigel Horne), has just completed their summer programme.
Looking back at the weather over the last couple of months they count
ourselves lucky that only one of their events was cancelled due to the
exceptionally heavy rain.
The months prior to our summer engagements were spent working hard on our
repertoire. Nigel Horne, their conductor, chose a varied programme to see us
through all their engagements which included items such as The Entry of the
Gladiators, Pachelbel’s Canon and Alexander’s Ragtime Band.
They were very pleased and grateful to have former members of the band and
playing friends and family of band members join them for their summer
engagements, making true the saying: ”The more the merrier!”
It is with great pleasure that they welcome a new member to the band.
Katherine Grice, a medical photographer from Swindon, has joined on flute
and is a great asset to their existing flute section.
They are now turning our attention to an autumn repertoire and would welcome
new players of Grade 6 standard or above to swell their ranks.
Rehearsals
take place at Ossett Community Centre, Prospect Road, Ossett on Thursday
evenings between 7.30pm and 9pm.
