Nottingham Concert Band (Robert Parker) has swung
into action by starting the New Year with rehearsals for its next
performance.
The band's Spring 2008 concert is being planned
for the evening of Saturday 8 March at the Christian Centre on Talbot Street,
Nottingham, and all proceeds will be donated to Nottingham's Cardiac Support
Group. The Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor Jeannie Packer, has accepted an
invitation to attend, as has BBC East Midlands Today presenter Jo Healey. The guest
compere will be John Holmes of BBC Radio Nottingham.
Under the baton of Conductor & Musical Director
Robert Parker, Nottingham Concert Band is working on a varied programme for the
evening during its weekly rehearsals at Jesse Gray School in West Bridgford,
including transcriptions of traditional favourites and recent additions to the
contemporary wind-band repertoire. A series of solo and small ensemble spotlight
sections during the concert are also being planned.
