In common with many bands in the US, The
Farmington Community Band (Damien Crutcher), which is based at the Harrison
Hight Schol in Farmington Hills, does not rehearse or perform during the summer
months.
At the start of October the band, which boasts 80 members, started work
toward its 42nd concert season. It already has a busy concert schedule with
seasonal concerts for Halowe'en and Christmas as well as a spring concert. The
band aims to present a variety of music to "reach out" to audiences of
all ages.
Speaking of the schedule, Jim
Liska, the band's Vice President of Communications, told the Concert Band
Portal, "New
for 2007-2008 is a celebration of autumn with an outdoor concert at [the]
historic Franklin Cider Mill, a musical tribute to America's heroes in Milford
and an appearance at the Farmington Festival of the Arts. Returning this year
are several FCB classics such as Spooktacular, and Postcards at the holiday
season. Our annual spring concert features an energizing Overture Hit Parade,
and the concert band will wrap up their regular season with musical kick off to
summer at beautiful Heritage Park in July."
