Some £300 was raised for "Maggie's Appeal"
by The Nottingham Concert Band (Robert Parker) last week when it staged
Autumn Winds, a concert held with the vocal ensemble Mirabilé.
The 50-strong ensemble put on a varied concert in
aid of the charity. The profits were donated in
the memory of former band member Bert Pinnington to the £3m appeal to build a centre
in Nottingham to provide a friendly and non-institutional environment for
anybody affected by cancer, helping sufferers to be as healthy in mind and body
as possible and enabling them and their families to make their own contribution
to treatment and recovery. Bert Pittington was a percussionist with the band, he
passed away in August.
After thanking the guests, Robert Parker
acknowledged the support of Councillor Brandon-Bravo, whose sponsorship of the
event through his Divisional Initiatives Budget was heartily appreciated.
